We Are Family

There were high and low points in this day, happiness and sadness. I attended Uncle Junior's funeral this morning with Cousin Larry. I reconnected with family I've not seen in a year. I had a brief chat with Cousin Tyanna and mom's good friend, "Duckie." A trip to Donna and Harry's gave me the chance to reconnect with more family. It was good seeing Robbie and his family. We've not seen each other since 2002.

Too many years pass without seeing one another, and we often say we'll do it. This time we actually did it. The plan for sunday is much the same - time with the family.

I'm lovin it!

The Windmills Of Iowa

If all can come together, a group of COOLEY COUSINS will go to Des Moines in October. I was the passenger and not the driver for my last trip to Des Moines. I like that! Cooley Cousin Justin is welcomed to be the chauffeur for any trip. It's a great feeling to sit back and leave the driving to someone else. One of the joys of that trip was the windmills. Yes, I said WINDMILLS. I have noticed them on each of my trips to and from Des Moines. When you're driving you're not able to look for long periods. As a passenger I took my time and got a good look at them. I don't know how much land they're on, but they seem to go on and on for miles and miles...

JUSTin time!

This weekend marked the birthday of one Eckie Bud and Helen Cooley's grandsons, Justin. Grandsons Rodney and Shawn celebrated birthdays in June. I don't have the entire story, but I'm told Cousin Justin enjoyed his birthday celebration. The outpouring of love and well wishes touched this mild-mannered, young man. "Y'all put a big smile on my face all day..." said Justin. The love you give is the love you receive -- twofold. Happy Birthday, Justin.

Happy Birthday Justin!!!

If I'm certain of one thing, I know my "little" cousin is going to enjoy celebrating his birthday. Don't let the kewl exterior fool you. This man likes to have a good time and ensure all around him are doing the same. It's safe to save a fun time will be had by all. Happy Birthday, Justin. Much peace, many blessings and an abundance of love - today and every day.

The Brothers

Every generation of this family has those special brother bonds. Thru the good and bad times, the brothers stick together. Pinkie Doolen Johnson can be credited with instilling a sense of togetherness, forgiveness and above all else, LOVE in her children. Those three very important "keys" have been passed down to each generation. All of these brothers (Johnson, Cooley and Thompson) have togetherness not witnessed in many families. This family has been BLESSED many times over. Like any family, we don't always see eye to eye.Hell, we'll even fuss about it. Given a little time and cooler heads, it all seems to work itself out. To all the brothers of this fam, let's continue to love one another and others. Don't let hard feelings prevent us from being the "kool kats" we're destined to be.
The Brothers from top to bottom; Frank and Edward Johnson, Eugene and Marvin Cooley, Rev Earnest and Dr J.Walter Thompson, Bobby and Larry, Tim and Tony, Justin and Terry
